Independence Day Today: Loud Revelry, Muted Freedom

QUINTETS

A solemn day, once held with grace,
Became a loud and hurried race.
With road shows and loud song,
The economy dragged along,
A weary, debt-ridden, frantic pace.

A solemn event, once so grand,
Became mundane show in the land.
With loud, gaudy flair,
Geet-Gaan rivalry in air,
"Event economy" ruled, a harsh command.

A day of thought, a quiet vow,
Now loud with noise, I don't know how.
Banners wave, a hurried pace,
Loud revelry fills the space.
No solemn air , a traded show
