Need to create a micro-credential skill course at middle school level to link it the mass media study course at senior secondary level

 Media Science, previously referred to as Media Studies or Mass Communication, is a multifaceted discipline that investigates the processes of information creation, dissemination, and consumption across various platforms, including digital, broadcast, and print. This field combines practical content creation skills with a comprehensive analysis of how media influences education, culture, politics, commerce, and societal behavior.

One of the key aspects of Media Science is its emphasis on media production and technical skills, equipping students with the knowledge to create diverse media content. Through hands-on training in areas such as video editing, audio production, and web design, students gain the practical expertise necessary to transform their creative concepts into tangible projects. Additionally, the study of digital convergence highlights the interconnectedness of various media platforms, enabling creators to engage with global audiences through smartphones, social media, and streaming services. Understanding audience analysis and consumer behavior is also crucial, as it allows media professionals to tailor their messages effectively by examining demographics and media psychology. Lastly, the exploration of communication technologies delves into the scientific principles that facilitate mass communication, including fiber optics and signal processing, further enriching the field's comprehensive approach.

At the school level, by understanding the physics and mechanics of sound, wave nature of light, and data waves, students learn how media is encoded, transmitted, and decoded for the masses. Exploring this field can unlock diverse career opportunities in journalism, digital marketing, film production, and public relations.

On the basis of the foregoing information, a 12-hour media science literacy and skill module should be created at the middle school level for upward linkage.

At the senior school level, the CBSE offers Mass Media Studies (Subject Code: 835) as an academic elective at the senior secondary level (Classes 11 and 12). It is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of media formats—Print, Television, Radio, Film, and New Media—and prepares them for careers in journalism, advertising, and entertainment.
