Bol Alaap Phrases in Sanskrit from Chapter 16 of the Bhagavad Gita: Focus Group Outcome

A focus group was held (N=3; 1 hour; June 26, 2026, Ambala) to work out the contours of a study the integrates spiritual intelligence with Gita through alaap bols picked from the scripture. It was decided to to delimit the study the study by developing the micro-credential literacy and awareness module of 12 hours for middle school students for introducing values education. It was decided that the module should have four-hour of literacy and awareness with four learning episodes and 8 hours of practical and practice of selected bol alaap phrases from the chapter 16 of Gita which related to divine and devilish virtues.

Here are 10 distinct Sanskrit phrases from the divine and demoniac qualities described in Chapter 16 of the Bhagavad Gita, primarily sourced from Verse 1, Verse 2, and Verse 10:

  1. अभयं सत्त्वसंशुद्धिः = अभयं + सत्त्व + सं + शुद्धिः (Abhayaṁ sattvasaṁśuddhiḥ — Fearlessness and purity of mind) from Verse 1
  2. .ज्ञानयोगव्यवस्थितिः = ज्ञान +योग + व्यव +स्थितिः (Jñānayogavyavasthitiḥ — Steadfastness in spiritual knowledge) from Verse 1
  3. अहिंसा सत्यमक्रोधः = अहिंसा  + सत्यम + अक्रोधः (Ahiṃsā satyamakrodhaḥ — Non-violence, truthfulness, and absence of anger) from Verse 2.
  4. शान्तिरपैशुनम् (Śāntirapaiśunam — Peacefulness and aversion to fault-finding) from Verse 2.
  5. दया भूतेष्वलोलुप्त्वं (Dayā bhūteṣvaloluptvaṃ — Compassion toward all beings and freedom from greed) from Verse 2
  6. तेजः क्षमा धृतिः (Tejaḥ kṣamā dhṛtiḥ — Vigor, forgiveness, and fortitude) detailed in Srimad Bhagavadgita Chapter 16.
  7. काममाश्रित्य दुष्पूरं (Kāmamāśritya duṣpūraṃ — Harboring insatiable lust) from Verse 10.
  8. दम्भमानमदान्विताः (Dambhamānamadānvitāḥ — Full of hypocrisy, pride, and arrogance) from Verse 10
  9. .मोहाद्गृहीत्वासद्ग्राहान् (Mohādgṛhītvāsadgrāhān — Deluded, holding on to false/evil ideas) from Verse 10.
  10. प्रवर्तन्तेऽशुचिव्रताः (Pravartante'śucivratāḥ — Acting with impure resolves) from Verse 10.
