Buddhist symbolism of timeless enlightenment at moment of death: The Reclining Buddha haiku

In many Buddhist temples, the statues of reclining Buddha exist both as an iconographic Buddhist art as well as symbolic representation of Nirvana as the ultimate aim of life in Buddhism.

In other words, the Reclining Buddha represents embracing of death with equanimity and pure awareness as transition to Nirvana.

HAIKU

Recline peacefully

View mindfully your exit

To clinch Nirvana

~*~

Keep calm, collected

Recline with serenity

For graceful passing

~*~

Enlightenment –

Detachment from all desires -

It is timeless

~*~

Use death moment

To end rebirth-death cycles -

Nirvana moment

~*~

Make death moment

Tranquil – free from all desires -

 Nirvana prospect
