Main Teachings of The Ashtavakra Gita in Couplets
Deem you're not flesh, thought, action's hand,
The Atman dwells, unbound, in every land.
But deeper still, a well of purest light,
A consciousness both endless and so bright.
Let go the grip of "I," the ego's claim,
The witness watching, untouched by the flame,
Embrace the truth that whispers in the soul,
Beyond duality's relentless toll.
The Self within, a silent light,
Just witness world, with all your might.
Detach from worldy gain and fear,
Keep consciousness, forever clear.
This freedom waits, a presence ever near,
Abandon self, release all holding dear,
The wise already know, with knowing eyes,
"I am already free," where truth now lies.
For liberty resides in this sweet breath.
That conquers fear, and whispers, "Conquer death."
