Jiddu Krishnamurti Quotes on Conditioning and Inspired Poem

QUOTES ON CONDITIONING

  • To be aware of my conditioning means I am not trying to go beyond it, not trying to be free of the conditioning. I must see it as it actually is.
  • It is very difficult for the mind to free itself from its conditioning and go beyond it because this conditioning is imposed upon it, not only by society but by itself.
  • The conditioning of a religious culture is propaganda, a series of acceptances of beliefs, all arising through fear and the demand for security.
  • There is no noble or better conditioning; all conditioning is pain. The desire to be, or not to be, breeds conditioning, and it is this desire that has to be understood....One form of conditioning can be substituted for another, but it is still conditioning. The response of this conditioning is karma.
  • When you observe your conditioning, the conditioning exists only in the observer, not in the observed.
  • The root of all conditioning is thought, which is the ‘me’. The ‘me’ is the very essence of the past, the ‘me’ is time, the ‘me’ is sorrow, and the ‘me’ endeavours to free itself from itself.
  • Thought being a mechanical, repetitive pursuit, accepts any form of conditioning which enables it to continue in its mechanical activity.
  • Freedom from conditioning comes with the freedom from thinking. When the mind is utterly still, only then is there freedom for the real to be.

INSPIRED POEM O UNCONDITIONAL SELF

Un-conditioning, a gentle release,
The spirit awakens, finding its peace.
Boxed self's tight grip begins to unwind,
A lightness of being, a new state of mind.

The ego's chains dissolve within the gloom,
Un-selfed soul soars, unburdened by mind's hold,
And light breaks through, a bright and guiding star.
In humble things, a wonder to behold,

To see the world with clear and open eyes
A quiet truth in earthly, sweet surprise.
To gaze at a flower, a cloud in the sky,
In nature's deep wonder, our true selves can fly.

A painting, a melody, simple and true,
Reflect a vast beauty, forever anew.
With mindful attention to all that we see,
Each moment unfolding, serenely and free.

No longer attached to what used to be,
A quiet contentment, for all eternity.
