Philosophy of Buddhism: A Brief and a Poem

THE BRIEF

The Buddha taught that desires, or more specifically, craving (tanha), consisting of lust and attachment, are the root cause of suffering. The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism consisting of 'existence of suffering;' 'identification of cause of suffering (Desires);' 'process of ending of suffering;'  and 'following the eight-fold noble truth path of achieving liberation with right understanding, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.'

A POEM ON BUDDHIST PHILOSOPHY

Empty your hands, let go of things,
That glitter bright, on hopeful wings.
For pleasure's call, a siren's song,
Can lead  to place you don't belong.

Pleasures' chase, a burning fire,
Fuels wicked deeds, and dark desire.
It twists the mind, and clouds the brain,
Leaving you lost, beyond restrain.

So still the mind, and calm the eye,
Let earthly wants just drift on by.
Find peace within, a gentle grace,
In quiet thought, and humble place.
