The winners of Findel-CASTME Awards-2024 and Alexander Award to be anounced in January 2025

 

The winners of Findel-CASTME Awards-2024 and Alexander Award will be announced in January 2025 at UK's Association of Science Education  conference hosted by the University of Nottingham early January 2025.

The awardee for Findel-CASTME Education Award  will receive a £300 voucher to spend on Philip Harris science equipment or resources as well as an international membership of the UK's Association of Science Education (ASE) for one year.

The names of the Findel-CASTME Awardees in three categories and  the winner of the Alexander Award to an outstanding women science educator will be announced during the Presidential Address of the conference.

There are a few Indian STEM educators in the award race including this blogger, Dr Lalit Kishore, who had sent two entries: first, on a project with pre-schoolers done at Vidya Bharati School, Senior Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Jaipur-18 (Rajasthan State) and another as syndicate entry for the project done at Som Gurukul, Kurukshetra (Haryana State) assisted by Subhash Chauhan and Pradeep.

Earlier, Dr Kishore had brought laurels to Haryana State's Motilal Nehru School of Sports (MNSS), Rai, by winning CATSME Awards in 1982 and 1992 for his entries on process-based science learning at school level through low-cost science experiments

An ink attack at Jantar Mantar and aftermath

 An ink attack, which involves throwing ink at a rival, celebrity, politician, or public official, is typically intended to humiliate the target, attract media attention, and convey feelings of hate or disagreement. Such actions undermine democracy and hinder the potential for constructive and meaningful discussions. They substitute logical arguments with cheap publicity stunts. This type of attack goes beyond rational discourse and peaceful debate, creating panic as it may involve hazardous chemicals. However, when a government supporter targeted Abhijit Dipke of CJP at Jantar Mantar, he and his supporters managed to handle the situation calmly, preventing social unrest. A limerick  Young Dipke, a chap quite astute, Was ink-attacked, a messy pursuit. He stayed calm and meek, As the attacker woman did shriek, "Blue's my color!" he said, with sweet hoot.
