VIEWPOINT
According to S.N. Goenka, promoter of Buddhist Vipassana meditation, true world peace is impossible without inner peace achieved through personal transformation and the practice of reflection and meditation. He held that world peace starts with the individual since an agitated mind filled with anger and hatred cannot create a peaceful society. When people feel irritated or unhappy, they do not keep that misery to themselves; they spread it to everyone around them. Generating negative emotions like anger makes a person the immediate victim of their own suffering. The inner core of all humanism promotes a pure, disciplined mind filled with peace, love and compassion first and foremost.
QUOTES

INSPIRED POEM
A quiet mind, a gentle soul,
Can make the worried world feel whole.
If storms still rage inside your head,
How can true peace be widely spread?
Look deep within, where whispers lie,
And find the calm beneath the sky.
A peaceful mind, a happy thought,
Is the first lesson life has taught.
When light begins within your breast,
The shadows flee, put to the test.
For peace and darkness cannot stay,
One drives the other far away.
So let your inner calm arise,
Reflected in a thousand eyes.
Start with yourself, a simple deed,
And sow a peaceful, loving seed.
