Sant Kabir's Couplet in Roman English

BURA JO DEKHAN MAIN CHALA,
BURA NA MILYA KOY,
 
JO DIL KHOJA AAPNA,
MUJHSE BURA NA KOY.
 

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

I  ventured out in search of the wicked, yet I found none. Upon examining my own heart, I discovered that there was no one worse than myself.
 


ENGLISH COUPLET

I sought a wicked, dark and deep,
But outward searches couldn't keep.
 
Inside I looked, with sudden dread,
The worst of all lived in my head.
