ODE TO SIKH GURU SRI RAM DAS JI SAHIB AND POEM ON HIS MESSAGE TO HUMANITY

The fourth of the ten Sikh gurus, Guru Sri Ram Das Ji Sahib, founded holy city of Amritsar.  He wrote numerous hymns and contributed to ancient ragas of Indian classical music.

Ode to Guru Ram Das who taught the following spiritual message for treading the devotional path

POEM

 Before the sun, awake and pray,
To God's sweet name, begin the day.
Cleanse your mind, let spirit soar,
A precious gift, forevermore.
 
Walk in light, the Guru's way,
Let wisdom guide, come what may.
Ego's poison, cast aside,
It blinds your soul, where truths reside.
 
The body's chains, the senses' hold,
Greed's biggest delusion, bought and sold.
These steal your soul, and dim your light,
And hide from you, what's good and right.
 
Be humble, kind, let pride take flight,
Serve all with love, with all your might.
Devotion pure, a selfless deed,
Planting love, a holy seed.

Iyengar had once said, “Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.”
