 Janmashtami is an occasion to know meaning, purpose and reconnect: A Poem

Janmashtami, a time to cleanse and clear,
From lust and anger, greed's demanding call,
Reconnecting, shedding delusions, fear
Arrogance and envy start to fall.

Reconnect to spirit, vast and ever true,
The Supreme Soul, no cause, no end in sight.
Our lost deep bond, we make it brand new,
Janmashtami calls us to inner light.

The Supreme Soul, no cause, no end in sight,
It conquers evil, helps the righteous rise.
Janmashtami calls us to inner light,
We offer gifts of pious speech, art 'n might.

 The 11th edition of the UN proclaimed International Day of Yoga is going to be observed on June 21, 2025, with the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”.  According to the UN the theme 'echoes a vital truth that personal wellness and planetary health are inseparably linked.' "Yoga strengthens the body, calms the mind and fosters a heightened sense of awareness and responsibility in daily life. This mindfulness allows one to choose healthier and more sustainable lifestyles. In caring for ourselves, we begin to care for the Earth, reflecting the enduring Indian ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family," adds the UN.  Late Yoga guru B. K. S. Iyengar had once said, “Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.”
