Vesak Celebrations: Message and Flower Sutra Tanka verse


The Buddhist festival of Vesak or Buddha Purnima commemorates the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing away. The followers consider the festival as the most sacred day in the Buddhist calendar. 

HH the Dalai Lama, as a spiritual leader of the Tibetan Buddhism, in his message emphasized the significance of living a compassionate and harmonious life by following the Buddha's teachings and creating a peaceful and harmonious world. 

On the occasion of Vesak-2024, HH the Dalai Lama had stated, "On this auspicious occasion, I offer fellow Buddhists everywhere my good wishes in leading meaningful lives filled with warm heartedness and compassion."

there is no doubt that the core Buddhism values of compassion, harmony between people and  with the nature  are the hope for the world for the peaceful co-existence amid the current volatile conditions.

The Flower Sutra -

Deem life as hidden treasure

Of the mind and heart

That's as vast as the Cosmos - 

Strive for self-discovery!

Yoga Day 2025 Theme: Yoga for One Earth, One Health

 The 11th edition of the UN proclaimed International Day of Yoga is going to be observed on June 21, 2025, with the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”.  According to the UN the theme 'echoes a vital truth that personal wellness and planetary health are inseparably linked.' "Yoga strengthens the body, calms the mind and fosters a heightened sense of awareness and responsibility in daily life. This mindfulness allows one to choose healthier and more sustainable lifestyles. In caring for ourselves, we begin to care for the Earth, reflecting the enduring Indian ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family," adds the UN.  Late Yoga guru B. K. S. Iyengar had once said, “Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.”
