International Gita Mahotsav in Haryana's Kurukshetra to be held from Nov 28 to Dec 15, 2024: Message of Holy Scripture through Gita Acrostic
In 2024, the International Gita Mahotsav is going to be held in Kurukshetra from November 28 to December 15 with Tanzania as partner country and Odisha as partner state. The craft and Saras Mela will kick start from November 28 while main event will take place from December 5 to 11 including an International Gita Seminar at the local university,
Various events related to the International Gita Mahotsav will be organized at places falling within the 48 Kilometres of the periphery of Kurukshetra town to showcase Indian heritage, religiosity, spirituality, traditions and culture. There are going to be a number of spiritual discourses, Gita verses' recitations programmes, cultural performances, and art and craft exhibitions.
The Gita Jayanti Mahaparva is going to celebrated on December 11. According to Haryana Tourism Department, "Srimad Bhagavad Gita remains the ultimate guide to humanity through the philosophy of – Karma – Selfless Work. Gita Bhoomi Kurukshetra witnessed this lesson of life over five thousand years ago when Lord Krishna, as the Sarathi of Arjuna, awakened him to his duty on the land of Saraswati at Jyotisar during the Mahabharata. Bhagavad Gita is acknowledged as the universal lighthouse leading to the best spiritual enlightenment. There is no element or part of life which is not present in the Chants of Gita. Gita Bhoomi Kurukshetra invites you to witness the spectacle of Cultural and Spiritual events where people come from all parts of the world."
The event is partnered by Kurukshetra Development Board, Haryana Tourism, District Administration ,North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala; and Information and Public Relations Department, Haryana.
It is further added that Bhagawad Gita Jayanti Samaroh is celebrated to commemorate the advent of ‘Srimad Bhagavad Gita’ more than 5000 years ago on the 11th day of the Shukla Paksha (Ekadashi day) of Margashirsh month as per the Hindu Lunar calendar
