Wither Elected Leaders Today: A Poem
Wither Elected Leaders Today: A Poem
A bitter truth the world has come to see,
Where leaders rise, by people's voices swayed,
To serve the common good, it seems to be,
A noble promise, publicly displayed.
But power's lure, a siren's tempting song,
Can warp ideals, and twist the truest aim,
Where right and wrong become a tangled throng,
And "all is fair" becomes the twisted game.
Lust, war, and greed, their daily bread,
Commerce their god, the people misled.
People's needs 'n hopes, a fading sound,
As morals bartered on tainted ground.
For life itself, a sacred, fragile thing,
Becomes a product that their coffers bring!
