Understand transient nature of emotions and practice equanimity to live a calm life

Nature of Emotions

It is essential to recognize that all emotions are inherently transient - they arrive, linger for a while, and eventually fade away. Thus, avoid holding onto emotions. Do not let them cause harm to yourself or to others. Through the practice of mindfulness, equanimity, non-reaction, and calmness, we can simply let emotions flow away effortlessly. This is the path to leading a meaningful, serene, calm and composed life - an emotionally intelligent life.

Inspired Poem

A smile arrives, a sunny day,
It warms our heart, then fades away.
A tear may fall, a cloudy sky,
But clouds all drift, and tears will dry.

Anger flares, a burning fire,
It scorches bright, then loses ire.
Don't hold them tight, these fleeting things,
Let joy take flight, let sorrows wing

Carry burdens far from view,
A mindful life, both strong and true.
Breathe in and out, let feelings flow,
No clinging on, just let them go.

Equanimity, a peaceful space,
Where calmness dwells, with quiet grace.
Live as gentle breeze, silent stream,
A calm and collected, waking dream.
