Tibetan Losar Festivies Begin with Message for Compassion and Inner Peace

The Tibetan Losar will be celebrated from Wednesday, February 18 to February 20, 2026. This vibrant and culturally rich festival signifies new beginnings and is observed by Tibetan Buddhists and various Himalayan communities in India.

For Losar 2026, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has highlighted the importance of nurturing inner peace, compassion, and a good heart to attain lasting happiness. He has encouraged the preservation of Tibetan cultural heritage while also urging the world to promote kindness and, at the very least, to avoid causing harm to others. Additionally, he has called on the new generation to comprehend and safeguard Tibetan culture, traditions, and customs.

Losar Message in Poetry

The shiny things, the wealth we strive to gain,
May bring a fleeting joy, a moment's grace,
But lasting peace, a balm to ease the pain,
Resides within, a quiet, sacred space.

Train your  mind, where worries come and go,
For seeds of kindness to steadily grow.
Quiten the thoughts, let patience be your guide,
Let equal calm in every place reside,

Gallop like the Fire Horse, brave and bold,
Burn all evils with stories to be told.
