Vinoba Bhave's Geetai: A snippet view and an inspired poem
Geetai (Mother Gita) is Vinoba Bhave's (1932) Marathi translation of the Bhagavad Gita, which he created for his mother. His work aimed to make the profound teachings of the Gita accessible to a wider Marathi-speaking audience. He viewed the Gita as a scripture as an apt guide to live a sane and wise life for the common person.
He had once said that the Gita was his life-breath and sought to make its teachings accessible to everyone, He also gave occasional talks on on the Gita and translated the scripture into Marathi and titled it 'Geetai'. He had urged that for uniting the individual with the world through faith and experimentation, not just reason or intellect.
