Teacher education under NEP 2020: A reference and an inspired poem

As  Mohan and Mahulikar, (2025) point out, when it comes to incorporating the spiritual growth of pupil teachers into the 4-year B.Ed. curriculum, teacher educators need to weave in values like compassion, ethical decision-making, and self-awareness. This should be done through a holistic approach that embraces reflection, arts, culture, and community engagement, along with religious teachings. The teacher education curriculum should not only focus on developing cognitive skills in future teachers but also include the affective and psychomotor domains. This way, they can become well-rounded individuals capable of promoting holistic development in their own students. To achieve this, teacher educators must act as role models of spiritual values and intelligence, effectively guiding their trainees. They should also be able to translate these spiritual values into classroom practices, nurturing the emotional and spiritual growth of pupil teachers.

Teacher Education Anthem: Inspired Poem

A seed of hope, a teacher's hand,
Building minds across the land.
Weaving subjects, heart and art,
A curriculum to play a part.

Guiding teachers, strong and true,
Reflecting on all that they do.
Learning by doing, feeling deep,
Skills that bloom, secrets to keep.

India's wisdom, old and bright,
Sharing stories, filled with light.
Respect for all, a world to share,
Citizens of Earth, with love and care
