SUPREME KNOWLEDGE: A POEM
When perfect wisdom does reside,
Highest skill is then supplied.
The soul is freed, its journey done,
In God it melts, becoming one.
With practice, knowledge pure and true,
Union with God awaits for you.
The cycle of birth and death will cease,
Your life's true wealth finds lasting peace.
In every being, shining bright,
God's divine nature, pure and white.
A part of nature, soul's domain,
The primal source, the root again.
We are souls in bodies bound,
Nature the mother, all around.
God is the seed, the father true,
This is the story, ever new.
Sattva, Rajas, Tamas three,
From body's nature, they agree.
These qualities, a binding chain,
Forever hold the soul in pain.
Even Sattva binds with gentle might,
To joy and knowledge, shining bright.
Attached to pleasures, earthly ties,
With greed and longing, never wise.
Rajas born of passion's fire,
Connects to wealth, a burning desire.
In craving, greed, and anger's hold,
The soul is trapped, a story told.
Tamas most of all deceives,
No faith in soul, no truth believes.
In body's pleasure, senses' sway,
A slave to sin, it goes astray.
Sattva to heaven leads the way,
Rajas to riches, come what may.
Tamas to sin, it pulls you down,
But all three bind, a thorny crown.
Subdue these qualities with care,
Sattva, Rajas, Tamas, you must dare.
For self-knowledge, dawn so bright,
Strive ever onward, with all your might.
The wise are bound, though mind controlled,
By Sattva's ego, subtle and bold.
A finer bondage, yet it binds,
Leaving true freedom far behind.
The Rajas-filled, for riches crave,
For worldly glory, seek and save.
Behind self-worship, they pursue,
Forever chasing, something new.
By Tamas shadowed, low desires,
In ignorance, the soul transpires.
In full delusion, lost and blind,
No peace within, no truth to find.
The Sattvic soul to heaven flies,
A short sojourn beneath the skies.
Then born again on earthly ground,
Until true freedom can be found.
The Tamasic soul is born anew,
To suffer hardship, ever true.
As worms and insects, low and base,
In lower realms, they find their place.
