Happy Losar 2024 with ‘Lo Sar Bey Tashi Delek’: Short Note and Haiku
~Lalit Kishore
SHORT NOTE
Losar-2024 is being celebrated by from 10th to 12th February as New Year festival by the followers of Tibetan Buddhism in India, Nepal, Tibet, Sikkim, and Bhutan.
Losar festival’s spiritual message is that of goodwill - 'Metta', In Buddhism, ‘Metta’ is used for an attitude of happiness or loving kindness as a result of one’s own skilful pro-actions and self-reliance.
In India, Losar is celebrated in Arunachal Pradesh and Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh (HP). This year, .Losar will culminate on February 14 with public celebrations in HP to pay obeisance to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) in his message on Losar said that the festival brings new hopes and opportunities in our life by making a fresh beginning and renewing the resolve for individual and collective growth. "Let us imbibe love, compassion, tolerance and work towards creating an inclusive society where peace and harmony prevail. Promoting optimism for better tomorrow, we must rise above the petty individual interests and realize our dreams and aspirations for creating an ideal society," he urged.
During the month before Losar, the followers draw eight auspicious symbols on walls of their houses with white powder. In monasteries, the several protector deities are honored with devotional rituals on Losar.
Here are my Losar haiku based on Tibetan Buddhist philosophy which I had posted on a blog ‘scratchmysoul’.
HAIKU
Die to your ego.
Let go anger breath by breath.
To gain salvation.
~*~
Let go all desires
To dwell in your inner space.
Let go is let be.
