Choskor Puja festival held in Tenga Valley
Choskor Puja is a cultural festival of the Monpa and Sherdukpen communities of Arunachal Pradesh and it is marked by procession, rituals and community feasts. The festival is is observed with great gaiety and zest in West Kameng and Tawang districts of the state.
The rituals are for protection for the community and their crops.Prayers are processions are held for good harvest, ward off evil spirits, and promote peace and prosperity. The procession involves carrying religious flags, images of deities, and holy books around the village and farmland of the local community
In the community gatherings, monks from local monasteries are invited to read holy books and conduct prayers during the festival. During the festival, villagers offer tea, popcorn, chang and other folk food delicacies to the participants.
